[jitsi-dev] [JITSI-MEET] Translation

#1

Hi guys,

I've completed the french translation of jitsi-meet via Pootle. However i'm failing to get all fields with the JSON converter i18next-gettext-converter.

My command line is : i18next-conv -l fr -s main-fr.po -K

Please, can you explain your method or commit main-fr.json . Thanks

Regards,
Arthur

Hi,

We just commit the translation using the pootle interface on
translate.jitsi.org, not sure how that works.

The i18next<->gettext conversion on Pootle uses an old Python module and some custom code in the hooks. It's an extremly ugly mess.

The command line tool Arthur mentioned is AFAIK for a newer i18next library version.

Yes, you're right. I installed the latest converter via npm. I managed to get almost all translations (of course in disorder). But there are some special cases (e.g. like keys on JSON root ) that get not correctly translated( or not at all). In the other hand i cant always do it manually, with the risk of loosing translations.

Any chance for rewriting these scripts in near future?

Thanks

No, there won't be an update anytime soon (lack of time, newer Pootle versions don't have the hook functionality anymore).

Please just enter the translations in our Pootle instance. I've updates the templates there yesterday.
