[jitsi-dev] Jitsi Meet SDK for Android failure (on one specific type of hardware)

#1

Hi all,

One of the organisations that I'm working with is having trouble connecting
a custom Android application, running on a specific make/model device, to
their instance of Jitsi Meet. The Android application is making use of
Jitsi Meet SDK for Android[1].

When launching the application on a specific hardware device[2], various
errors are logged, and no audio or video is available. It works fine on
other hardware.

I've included part of the logs (that I had to reformat - please excuse
unexpected format) as an attachment to this mail.

Can anyone help me figure out what is going wrong here?

Regards,

  Guus

I took a quick look at the log and the data sheet. I was going to suggest trying to lower the resolution, but I see the camera supports 1080p so that should Just Work (TM).

Before we dive any deeper, can this thing run standard Android applications? If so, does Jitsi Meet (from the store) work with meet.jit.si? That way maybe we can narrow it down some more.

The Jitsi Meet app from the Android store works fine.

We've now used this code to talk to meet.jit.si, instead of our own server.
We still reproduce the problem on the Realware device (logs attached),
while it works fine on another Android device (a Samsung Galaxy S7).

public class MainActivity extends JitsiMeetActivity {

    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        setWelcomePageEnabled(false);
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        try {
            loadURL(new URL("https://meet.jit.si/extel"));
        } catch (MalformedURLException e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
    }
}
