[jitsi-dev] Jitsi-meet one-to-one

#1

Hi.

Is it possible to use jitsi meet only for one-to-one chat? Just p2p without
the bridge (as it has no sense in this case).

Noticed that there's a great update with firefox support for one-to-one
conferences. And I think it will be an useful future.

Regards,
Zalmoxisus

if you want that why don't you check out https://github.com/legastero/jingle-interop-demos (in fact, Jitsi Meet is an offspring of the strophejingle demo, happened a little more than one year ago).

Seamlessly upgrading from 1-1 to a conference is _alot_ of work.

Hello,

if you refer to Firefox Hello (iirc), that is not really p2p as you
eventually expected, in the sense that it is not only in between two
browsers. If nothing relevant changed (as I haven't checked recently) it
relies on TokBox platform for signaling and media NAT traversal (e.g.,
TURN servers). TokBox is owned by Telefonica.

Jitsi VideoBridge has more or less the role of TokBox platform.

Cheers,
Daniel

Philipp, thanks a lot for the jingle library! I tried it earlier, and it
works smoothly, except that there was some problems with video from chrome
to firefox (I got audio only), but these are not related to the current
topic.
I like the jingle library as a p2p solution, and the jisti-meet as a
conference solution, but I cannot get them both together.
The problem here is that jitsi-meet's jingle-adapter/jingle-session was a
bit modified, and conflicts with the original one. So, as I see, if I want
to implement together the ability to use conferences and p2p videochat, I
have just 2 options:
1. When the user want to switch from the conference to one-to-one
dicussion, I have to reload the page with the original jingle libraries.
2. I have to rewrite jingle functions giving them other names.
