[jitsi-dev] jitsi meet on mobile

#1

if I do some custom changes to Jitsi is there a way for it to be displayed
on a mobile device or if I pull it up on a mobile device will it force me
to the Jitsi native app (which I assume I can't customize at all)?
Thank you!

What kind of changes? If you mean UI changes, they they won’t be visible because the mobile app doesn’t use the same UI as web. If you have deeper changes you can build the app yourself no problem, see: https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/android/README.md and https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/ios/README.md

Hi, David.

displayed on a mobile device or if I pull it up on a mobile device will
it force me to the Jitsi native app (which I assume I can't customize at
all)?

I think Jitsi Meet could be configured so that it doesn't ask to use the
native application for mobile devices but still the users of mobile
devices will get a screen saying "Video chat is not available on mobile".

I think the only way to avoid this behavior is to build your own version
of Jitsi Meet modifying the code but then the users of mobile devices
*should* ask for the desktop version of the site.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Saul, thanks. Yes some UI changes. Minor I believe.
Do you know of anyone that works with Jitsi meet and might be up for doing
a minor project for pay?

Saul, thanks. Yes some UI changes. Minor I believe.

Then you’d need to rebuild the apps.

Do you know of anyone that works with Jitsi meet and might be up for doing a minor project for pay?

I don’t, sorry!

Thanks. If the browser based version is embedded in a website of mine will
that show on a mobile app or will it force the user of the native app?
Thanks

It will force the user to use the native app.
