[jitsi-dev] Jitsi for Windows 10 support

#1

Dear Dev Team,

We have Grandstream's video conferencing(VC) unit GVC3200 which uses the
H.264 video codec and SIP/H.323 protocols for the video conferencing. I use
Lenovo 64-bit laptop with Jitsi installed and have provided access to
camera for the video conferencing.

My issue is while I try to call to VC via Jitsi Desktop application, video
doesnt pass through and only audio does. Is that some kind of bug we are
getting from the application or any other issue on VC unit.

Could you please suggest me as this is the only application we found
compatible with SIP client that dials via IP.

Hoping for your positive response as soon.

Regards,
Romush Tuladhar

Hi,

How are you calling? Using some sip service? For example in case of
using asterisk you need to set up video support and codecs for both
endpoints. If you are typing a number and the search-field and
clicking dial it by default makes audio call, what happen if you try
to enable video in the window, or you can try adding the contact and
directly hitting make a video call.
Are video codecs enabled for that account?

Hi damencho,

Thankyou for the reply.

No not through sip service. Just dialing IP without any registrations on
sip server.

I have setup the resolutions and frame rate for the inbuilt camera of my
laptop in jitsi application. I tried enabling the video as well from the
options but nothing happens, only audio is trasmitting.

Yes, video codecs are enabled for that account.

The video endpoint uses H.264 video codec for calls.

Any other config that i missed. Please let me know.

Romush

Hi,

The registerless accounts in jitsi-desktop are something that is not
very well tested and not recommended to be used. So if you find
something while debugging it and you are able to find some fixes, feel
free to create PRs for that, we will try looking at those, but
currently, there are no resources to fix it and no plans for that.

From what I remember from a similar case ~a year ago, this is less of an issue with the registrarless account, but with the way the videoconferencing system is announcing the video codecs. Logs might help, but to fix it, access to such a system would be required.

Hi damencho,

With the registerless SIP i was able to place calls and have video
conference - both audio and video. Tweaked a few things in jitsi like the
H.264 codec to support Baseline encoding, encoder preset to fast rather
than ultrafast and audio codec of Grandstream VC to opus rather than u-law.
This has ease the conference. Thankyou for your support. If anything i can
test with please let me know.

Romush
