Hristo, I cannot join password-protected chat rooms ever since picking
up that revision. I specify the password, an error dialog appears and
states that the joining has failed. Of course, next time I have to
enter the password again.

The password saving doesn't seem to be introducing any regressions for me.
I believe however that I had already seen the issue you are describing though and it feel like a race between the connection process and the join operation.
It's already in the todo list.
You may want to try manually unregistering and then reregistering the account.

Well, my account has finished connecting a long long time before I try
to joint the rooms because the password requesting dialogs pop up.
Regardless of whether I choose to save the passwords, whether or when
I manually choose to join or to reconnect my account, the joining
fails (and my passwords are never remembered, of course).
