Basically, we implement the codecs as Java Media Framework plug-ins so you should probably google Oracle's documentation on the subject. You should definitely then look at the source of our libjitsi project and, more specifically, at our javax.media.Codec implementations in src/org/jitsi/impl/neomedia/codec, at the org.jitsi.impl.neomedia.MediaUtils class where we describe the codecs recognised by libjitsi and at the org.jitsi.impl.neomedia.codec.EncodingConfiguration class where we specify which of our codecs are to be registered with JMF/FMJ.
