[jitsi-dev] improvements and new features of the new stable version

#1

Hello Jitsi team,

We want deploy the new stable version of Jitsi Meet on our testing platform but first I would like to know what the new features/improvements are (compared to the previous stable version that was released on May 24th).

Many thanks in advance

Kind regards,
Hamza

Hi,

There is no official changelog currently.
What can be easily done is adding a script that will extract the
commit logs from jitsi-meet, lib-jitsi-meet, jicofo, libjitsi and jvb.
These commit logs then can be used to create a summarised version of
the changes, which will need a human to edit them.

Hi Damian,

Thanks for the answer, I'll definitely do that once I finish my current jitsi-related tasks.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, if I want to get the difference between the current stable version and the previous one, the script must get all the commits between May 24th and September 21st on the master branch for each repository right ?

Hamza

Hi,

You can use tags for all of the repos jitsi-meet_2098 and jitsi-meet_1.0.2467.

The tricky part is checking for libjitsi, basically, you need to check
the version used in the tags mentioned above in jitsi-videobridge pom
file.
For example the current diff between for libjitsi version:
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/releases/tag/jitsi-meet_2098
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/releases/tag/jitsi-meet_2467
is
1.0-20170523.201300-280
1.0-20170920.120618-314
These versions are the one from https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-maven-repository
which are libjitsi:
https://github.com/jitsi/libjitsi/commit/66b0427764c28a9368d155921a0215782add3552
https://github.com/jitsi/libjitsi/commit/a03ce8894ad6ca88a89bbecd1226d447c3edbcfb

Finding the libjitsi version used the releases is such a pain, we
should think of something and make it more obvious, or at least add
this in the script so we can easily extract it. But definitely there
is more to be done here.
