[jitsi-dev] html Code in Chat Window

#1

Hi,

I just recieved an IM message with strangely distorted letters:

ja
xxx@gmx.at at 13:06:19
<font color="#000000" size="4" face=""><b>jetzt fett</b></font>
    <BR/>
xxx@gmx.at at 13:06:23
<font color="#000000" size="4" face=""><b>und?</b></font>
    <BR/>
yyy@gmx.de at 13:06:26
<font color="#000000" size="4" face=""><b>und?</b></font>
    <BR/>

Both sides are on Jitsi. I suspect, under some circumstances, Jitsi cannot detect that the incoming text is html and so it displays the code.

Thank you in advance for helping

Conrad

Hi Conrad,

Thanks for reporting the issue! I have some questions though.

Are these Jabber messages? Was it in a one-to-one chat or a group chat? The bug appears for incoming messages only or outgoing messages are also displayed this way? Was OTR enabled when the bug appeared?

Cheers,
Yana

Hi Yana,

Are these Jabber messages?

Yes

Was it in a one-to-one chat or a group chat?

One to One

The bug appears for incoming messages only or outgoing messages are also
displayed this way?

When I start writing, the text has a formatting - e.g. bold or some other font. The second message or deleting the typed yet line also reverts to normal. In the case the message looks "normal" to me - it will be sent as plain text and comes in nicely.

Was OTR enabled when the bug appeared?

Yes

I hope this helps to find the issue.

Greetings
Conrad

My friends and myself still observe the issue with html codes in
otr-encrypted jabber messages in jitsi (nb 3824) using Mac.
Is this issue mac-specific and is it reproducible by other users as well?
(the text of the pop-up notifications appears normal)

kind regards, MS

Hi MS,

I've been able to reproduce the issue but haven't had the time to track it yet.
