[jitsi-dev] High Definition video requirements

Dear all,

We started working with the latest version of Jitsi Meet but I noticed that we never reach HD video for our conferences even with a good bandwidth and bitrate, the standard and the HD qualities are the same and the gray circle on the top right is always set to SD.

is there any specific requirements to get the HD video quality ?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards
Hamza

Hi Hamza, have you configured 720p in the config.js?

Hey George,

I've just added resolution:720 to my config.js and it's working now, thanks

is there any parameter to set a default resolution ? in order to avoid huge bandwidth usage. For instance, the default quality is Standard Definition but users could manually switch to HD (and not automatically).

Best regards,
Hamza

Hi Hamza,

We don’t have manual control over what’s being sent: it’s either XYZp (the value that you set in config.js) or off. However, we have manual control over what’s being received, there’s a button in the side bar that looks like an eye that allows you to configure the received quality.

I hope this helps.

Best,
George
