[jitsi-dev] Google Voice Configuration

#1

Hi, Emil and team…

I've used Jitsi for quite awhile on my Macbook Pro and it's really a nice application. Thanks for the effort on this program. The video calling is first rate.

I use Google Voice, too, and realized that there is support for calling via Google Voice in the last two stable releases. However, I cannot seem to make it work. When I call, it dials the first number (me), then the second number, but I don't hear any ringback tones and the call never connects. I wonder if there is something wrong with my configuration. I looked at the configuration screens and noticed a Telephony tab (http://marc.clarify-it.com/d/fw97p7) and noticed they were empty. What goes in these fields? If you have a description or can provide some pointers or documentation, I would be grateful.

Thanks.

Thank you for your kind words.

Do you try to call a number with telephony prefix (i.e. +33xxxxxxxxx for french number) ?

The telephony tabs is not used for Google voice related stuff. It can be used if you have a private GTalk-to-PSTN setup (such as FreeSwitch server with gateway to PSTN and your own XMPP server).

Hi, Sebastien:

I did not realize I needed the full prefix. I wll try it tomorrow and report back.

What do you put in the fields in the Telephony tab? I have my own SIP server locally.

Thanks.

OK.

Nothing for Google Voice and nothing for SIP. If you have a gateway Gtalk-to-PSTN as I said in my previous mail you have to put for the telephony domain, the default domain name that will complete the telephone number (i.e. you type +33xxxxxxx in the call field, it will ends up to call +33xxxxxxx@telephonydomain. For the second field, you have to put the domain name that will always use GTalk call. Both fields are usually the same for a Gtalk-to-PSTN FreeSwitch gateway based setup.
