[jitsi-dev] Get started with Jitsi Meet API

#1

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get started with Jitsi. I followed the documentation about
the Jitsi Meet API but I'm not able to connect to any room yet

According to this documentation I just have to import the Jitsi Meet API
with :

<script src="https://meet.jit.si/external_api.js"></script>

and then I can open and connect to a new room by doing :

<script>
    var domain = "meet.jit.si";
    var room = "JitsiMeetAPIExample";
    var width = 700;
    var height = 700;
    var api = new JitsiMeetExternalAPI(domain, room, width, height);</script>

The problem is that I end up with a file not found error looking like this :

external_api.js:87 GET file://meet.jit.si/JitsiMeetAPIExample
net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Do I have to first install a local Jitsi server to be able to use this api ?

Anyone help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Jimmy

HI again,

to answer my own question in case anyone does the same mistake, it was
simply a problem of CORS : I was trying the api on a local file without
having any http server. Once I launched an http server it worked fine !
