[jitsi-dev] Fingerprint UI

#1

Hi team,

Settings > Security > Chat shows my own fingerprint. But the fingerprint displays somewhat strange. It doesn鈥檛 start with the first letter/numbers but somewhere in the middle. That is especially odd because there would be enough space at the end of the link still available which is not used.

Could someone confirm this. If confirmed let me know if you want a ticket for this.

Best :slight_smile:

It looks fine here for me with build 4958 on Windows 7.

I assume this is on Linux/Gnome? As far as I can tell, this is another case
of a badly designed theme (like the missing close-button on dialogs).

Could someone confirm this. If confirmed let me know if you want a
ticket for this.

Sorry should have mentioned this is on OS X 10.9 with latest nightly.

There鈥檚 the option to create a new fingerprint and when clicking this several times, one notices, that the first letter/number is sometimes cut-off and shows only half way. That is another indicator that while the end point of the fingerprint placement seems to be fixed there鈥檚 unshown characters in front of this.

Any news on this? Any OS X users that can confirm or deny the existence of this problem?

If confirmed guess we can deal with it and create a ticket or fix it right away. So any testers please feel free to help out on this.

* just open jitsi
* preferences > security
* double click your own fingerprint
* paste to TextEdit
* check if the first few characters match or if fingerprint is cutoff

Cheers

Hi,

Confirm, but this only happens when the dialog is not wide enough.
Maybe we can change the fields layout so the fingerprint field spans under
the generate button to have more space, and when changing accounts to
scroll the text in the beginning of the field.

You can create a ticket, please add the link to this discussion.

Thanks
damencho
