[jitsi-dev] file sharing in jitsi-meet?

#1

Hi all,

I remember asking this question a few years ago in jitsi meet's early stage
but I don't remember the answer from Emil back then.

Is there any file sharing feature in the works? This is a feature that is
absent and often requested by almost everyone that uses jitsi meet.
Considering it's webRTC couldn't we use the data channel to share files
securely (at least in 1:1 conferences?). I assume that filesharing with
everyone in the conference (instead of "just" p2p between 2 browsers) is a
little more tricky but certainly doable, no?

Thoughts?

Cheers,
Peter

Anyone have any info regarding this feature?

Hi,

This is doable, but there is no such feature and is out if scope of
current jitsi-meet there is no plan on adding it.
Currently data channels are missing on Edge, and we will be replacing
them with websockets maybe for all browsers.
