[jitsi-dev] Feature Request: MSN XMPP X-MESSANGER-OAUTH2 SASL mechanism

#1

Microsoft has EOL's their MSN protocol. Jitsi is no longer able to connect
to the MSN chat servers.

However, the MSN chat service lives on, speaking the XMPP protocol with a
modified auth protocol, the X-MESSANGER-OAUTH2 SASL mechanism. I have been
able to connect and chat over MSN using XMPP with Xabber.

Examples of other XMPP clients speaking this auth protocol can be found at
http://www.ag-software.net/2011/12/15/microsoft-adds-xmpp-support-to-windows-live-messenger/and
at
https://github.com/redsolution/xabber-android/tree/master/src/com/xabber/xmpp/wlm

It would be awesome if Jitsi would add support for this XMPP auth protocol.

Sorry for answering this late:

It is still possible to connect to MSN via the existing implementation in Jitsi.

This would be turned off by Microsoft next year and at that point there will be no way to use the service any more.

Hope this helps,
Emil
