[jitsi-dev] errors compiling latest git

#1

Hi,

I'm trying to build jitsi installers for linux and windows.
I'm on Ubuntu 13.10.

I have followed the instructions but when running ant
build-installation-linux I get this error, apparently from izpack:

com.izforge.izpack.adaptator.XMLException: Error in
/compile/jitsi/jitsi/release/linux/tmp/tmp-installer-linux.xml at line 16,
column 103 : javax.xml.transform.TransformerException:
com.sun.org.apache.xml.internal.utils.WrappedRuntimeException: The value of
attribute "value" associated with an element type "null" must not contain
the '<' character.

Also, when trying to build a windows installer running ant
build-installation-wix-64 I get an error about a missing make.exe:

BUILD FAILED
/compile/jitsi/jitsi/resources/install/build.xml:298: The following error
occurred while executing this line:
/compile/jitsi/jitsi/resources/install/build.xml:411: Execute failed:
java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "make.exe" (in directory
"/compile/jitsi/jitsi/src/native/windows/run"): error=2, No such file or
directory

Regarding thr linux error, do we need to use a specific version of izpack?
(i'm on 4.3.5)

Any help or pointers much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

we no longer support the izpack installers, the one you are trying to
use. For ubuntu you can build deb package.

Oh, ok. That would explain the error then.
To build a windows installer, do I have to build inside windows or can I
build a windows installer from ubuntu?
And what are you using instead of izpack then?

Cheers

To build a windows installer, do I have to build inside windows or can I
build a windows installer from ubuntu?

That must be done from Windows (unless WiX is available on Wine, but we
certainly never tried this)

And what are you using instead of izpack then?

For Windows, WiX (which builds a .msi).

Thanks for your help.

I ran ant deb-64 but am getting the following errors (I'm on ubuntu 13.10
amd64), even though it claims wrongly in the end that BUILD SUCCESSFUL.

What am I doing wrong?

Doh, you beat me to it.

I was just about to answer my own question with the answer: install
javahelper.

Thanks

By the way, is it possible to build a Mac installer without a Mac (I don't
have one)?
