[jitsi-dev] Disconnect on VPN open/close

#1

Hey

I noticed that Jitsi started again disconnecting and reconnecting all
accounts when I open or close a VPN connection. I cannot tell the exact
version when this started as I haven't used VPN connections much for the
last couple of weeks, but did anything change in the
NetworkConfigurationWatcher/ReconnectPlugin/... recently?

Regards,
Ingo

Hi Ingo,

nothing has changed recently.

When you have already opened jitsi and protocols are online, then when
you connect the VPN, it must not reconnect, if it reconnects this is a
bug. And after that if nothing hasn't reconnected meanwhile and you
disconnect the VPN again nothing has to be reconnected.

If something is not working as described, you can turn trace logging
for net.java.sip.communicator.impl.netaddr and
net.java.sip.communicator.plugin.reconnectplugin and send the output
in such situation.

Hi Ingo,

actually I have never discovered Jitsi stopped dis- and reconnecting after a VPN-connection was established or closed. I am using VPN every day.
Since my early days it is the behavior (on OSX 10.6.8). I am installing the nightly builds not often but I never discovered an other behavior then this.

Walter

Hi Ingo,

nothing has changed recently.

Thanks for the confirmation. I already thought so, but I couldn't follow all
the commits.

When you have already opened jitsi and protocols are online, then when
you connect the VPN, it must not reconnect, if it reconnects this is a
bug. And after that if nothing hasn't reconnected meanwhile and you
disconnect the VPN again nothing has to be reconnected.

This is describing the behavior that I expect and had for about a year, but
not anymore.

Note that it would be normal that Jitsi reconnects if I change the default
gateway with the VPN connection (but which I do not).

If something is not working as described, you can turn trace logging
for net.java.sip.communicator.impl.netaddr and
net.java.sip.communicator.plugin.reconnectplugin and send the output
in such situation.

Will send it as soon as time permits me to reproduce it in a clean
environment.

Regards,
Ingo
