[jitsi-dev] disappearing chat messages (not arriving)

#1

Dear All,
recently a nasty issue is occurring (also mentioned sometimes already
in the forum) :

after normal initiation of OTR (always manually as automatic initiation
works only with 2nd message), my partner does not receive the message,
it never arrives.

Several times enable/disable OTR or restarting Jitsi seems to solve this
problem, but we dont know if this is OTR-related (?)

any ideas?

kind regards, MS

Mac OS 10.8.5

Hello,

Could you please specify what do you mean by "always manually as automatic
initiation
works only with 2nd message"?

Also, could you please attach the log files to this topic so I can
investigate the issue.

And last, do you know if your partner is also using Jitsi or some other
messanger?

Regards,
Marin

_1) about "__"always manually as automatic initiation works only with
2nd message"__:_

with the specific contact I have selected before:
i) enable private messaging
ii) automatically initate private messaging
iii) require private messaging

assuming that after starting the chat window, writing and sending the
message Jitsi will automatically perform i) ii) and iii) (I did not
touch the padlock)

so I am clicking on the contact selecting to send text message, write
the text and send it, BUT:

if I am not manually closing the padlock manually, Jitsi gives this
error message after the (1st) message is sent:

"null You sent me an unreadable encrypted message.."

and starts to encrypt the chat, however the 1st message is lost and
never arrives, only 2nd message would be encrypted with OTR

so automatically starting OTR seems not to work (or I am
misunderstanding the points i) ii) iii) ?)

_2) could you please send me specific email address for sending the logs?_

_3) my partners use Jitsi only_

Hello,

Could you please specify what do you mean by ?

Also, could you please attach the log files to this topic so I can

investigate the issue.

And last, do you know if your partner is also using Jitsi or some
