[jitsi-dev] Crash in Tools > Options > General, fontmanager?

#1

I'm experiencing the following weird crash so I'm writing to ask
whether anyone has experienced it: when I go to the Tools > Options
dialog, Jitsi crashes as soon as I try to switch to the General
tab/configuration form.

The crash is reported in JRE's fontmanager library and I've reproduced
it in the following environments:

64-bit Windows 8, 32-bit Java 1.7.0_21
64-bit Ubuntu 13.04, 64-bit OpenJDK 1.7.0_21

The crash does not happen for me in the following environment:

Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Java 1.6.0_45

I attempted to install and run Jitsi in Crunchbang Linux. Which is
basically Debian. I got this message from the termial when I tried to
start it. I don't know what it means. What should I do?

ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear
ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.center_lfe
ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.side
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:957:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) The dmix plugin supports
only playback stream

Wasn't there a similar complaint on the list?

Unfortunately, the above does not ring a bell for me.

/tmp/hs_err_pid4479.log

It may be of help to us to look at that hs_err_pid*.log mentioned by the JRE.

To add to my own observations on the environments in which the
fontmanager crash appears for me, I do NOT experience the crash on:

64-bit Windows 8, 64-bit Java 1.6.0_45

#7

I do not see it in Ubuntu 64 bit.
