[jitsi-dev] Any important updates or future projects?

#1

Hello Jitsi team,

I have a couple of questions for you in order to stay informed of Jitsi Meet development updates.

First of all, from a performance and security perspective, I would like to know if it's necessary to update my current jitsi-videobridge (V 0.1.820) and jitsi-meet code (V 1.0.1338-1) to the most recent version ?
I also would like to know whether it's possible to connect Jitsi meet to another Videoconferencing system or not (such as Cisco, Polycom, etc). If so, what are the requirements ?
And one last question, are you making any big improvement for Jitsi Meet during the next few weeks/months ?

Thank you in advance for you attention.

Best regards,
Hamza KHAIT

Hi,

Hello Jitsi team,

I have a couple of questions for you in order to stay informed of Jitsi Meet
development updates.

First of all, from a performance and security perspective, I would like to
know if it's necessary to update my current jitsi-videobridge (V 0.1.820)
and jitsi-meet code (V 1.0.1338-1) to the most recent version ?

We are always working on improving stuff, we are currently working on
adaptation in the jvb, so it can use bandwidth of users more
efficiently and for those with low capacity to not overload it. Also
working on some performance improvements. We are currently testing
these and I hope to land them soon in stable. There is no must
upgrade, if there are any issues with stable we will announce it on
the mailinglist, but its users choice

I also would like to know whether it's possible to connect Jitsi meet to
another Videoconferencing system or not (such as Cisco, Polycom, etc). If
so, what are the requirements ?

We are currently using a combination of jibri and pjsua. Everything is
here: https://github.com/jitsi/jibri, but the documentation may not be
complete and this is work in progress.

And one last question, are you making any big improvement for Jitsi Meet
during the next few weeks/months ?

Yep, we are reworking the UI in order to share as much code as we can
with the mobile application, using react and react-native.
