[jitsi-dev] Accounts show up as online but they are not

#1

Hello,

Recently sometimes my Yahoo account is shown as online, i see a few online contacts, but if i want to send a message to them, i get the following message:

The above message could not be delivered
You should be connected to be able to send messages. Error was: The provider must be signed on the service before being able to communicate.

This indicates that in fact that account is offline. If i manually reconnect, it works.

I have Jitsi on my desktop and laptop and i use the same accounts - the desktop is permanently online, so if i start my laptop, i may have the desktop's yahoo account disconnected - this is not a problem, the problem is that i see my yahoo account online after i get back to the desktop (but it is in fact offline).

Could someone verify this?

Hello. This issue seems to be solved in the 3651 and higher builds - at least with the yahoo accounts.

Now i have the SIP contact presence issue - it seems that the account is online though, only that the contacts i have with this account dont show up after reconnection only (besider restarting Jitsi) if i go to tools-options-accounts and i untick and tick the sip account (setting it offline/online doesnt help).

Hi,

I don't have exactly the same problem as you, but I noticed some issues
with SIP account registration too.
When I add my SIP account (tools-options-accounts-add) there is a "Display
Name" input box, but after it is registered the display name is not updated
in main Jitsi window, just above status (online), it still displays "Me".
Then, when I start a chat using SIP the "from" name displays the SIP
number used in registration, not the "Display Name". This way the
destination contact never knows the real name of who is talking to him/her.

regards,
Glaucio
