Jitsi desktop fails to start since kUBUNTU 18.04 "Nimbuzz Avatars"

#1

In June 2018 I installed JITSIdesktop (actually 2.10.5550-1) under kUBUNTU 17.10, everything fine. Now I upgraded kUBUNTU to 18.04 and only the start-window is shown with “NimbuzzAvatars”.
How can I solve this?

Which java version are you using?
I think that was fixed in latest version in the unstable repo.

Thanks.

Java:

Other Java-Software (like JOSM) is running fine here.

$ java -version
openjdk version "10.0.1" 2018-04-17
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 10.0.1+10-Ubuntu-3ubuntu1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0.1+10-Ubuntu-3ubuntu1, mixed mode)
$

Latest Version in unstable:

I found some hint here for version 5580.
If this is worth a try, how to get it? In my sources.list actually I have:

deb https://download.jitsi.org stable/

You just need to change it to
deb https://download.jitsi.org unstable

#5

Now I have
deb https://download.jitsi.org unstable/
and Jitsi 2.11.5604-1
Startup works.
Additional issue: Connecting an existing SIP-Account fails, using the old data. Created a new account with old data, this works. For me, this seems to be an issue that old accounts are not accepted after updating versions.
Remaining question: When / where should I check for changes in order to return to stable?
Thank you!
