I’m using last version of JITSI Docker Stable-8252 and translation is working OK but it seems to work only in one way or I don’t know how to use it.
I guess I should configure my subtitles with the language I expect to see from the others members of the room? For example, if I speak Spanish, I configure my profile with Spanish and turn on subtitles with Spanish? So when others speaks i get translations in Spanish? And for example the other person in the room speaks English, so he configure profile with English and subtitles with English so when I speak Spanish he se subtitles in English?
Is this the right behavior? because it seems that is not working that way. In my tests I see that the translation is set to translate from profile language to subtitles language. Shouldn’t it work to translate from speaker language to the receiver subtitles language? So I could see the translation at the language I configure.
Can you help to know how to use this traslation functionality ?
There is no option for the moment to change the transcribing language, what you can set is the language to be translated to.
Sorry I dont understand, I’m talking about traslations. What should be the expected behaviour when there are 2 member with different configuration of language and subtitles traslation?
I join de room (person 1) with spanish configuration on my profile and I start the subtitles with english languaje. When I speak spanish I see english, that is OK.
Another person joins the room and set his profile with english and subtitles on spanish, when person 1 talks, he sees the his subtitles in English. That is OK
When person 2 talks english, he sees his subtitles in english, but person 1 (spanish) does not see subtitles.
At jigasi logs I see the error of traslating English to Englihs. It seems that the languages are well set from person 1 to person 2 but not from person 2 to person 1.

Screen with person 1 (left) talking spanish and person 2 (right) sees the traslation
In fact, person 1 could switch subtitles from english to spanish and still person 2 sees the subtitles ok in english
Screen with person 2 (right) talking english but person 1 (left) does not see anything
This is not translation, this needs transcription in different language than english.
Sorry, I talk Spanish, so maybe I’m not explaining my self correctly.
The transcription with translation seems to work well in one way, I also just tested with 2 other languages than English (catalan and spanish) and It behaves the same, It works only in one way, I speak spanish (person1) and the other person see subtitles in catalan. But I’m not able to do it the other way, when person 2 talks catalan, I (person 1) cant see the subtitles in spanish. and I see an error on jigasi that is is traying to translate from spanish to spanish

It seems that the target language is well set on one direction (person1 to person2 = es → ca) but not in the other way ( ca → es)
I think I understand @damencho , It is because it really exists only one transcriber and the languages changes are only for traslations? right?
Is it possible to for example add other JIGASI instance with the language of the other participant ?
Or is it possible to change the transcription language during the conference ? So at least we can change the transcription language when person 1 or person 2 talks or something like this?
Yes.
There is no such feature at the moment, but this can be added. The challenging task will be how to do it in the UI. Any PRs are welcome.
Thanks for the clarification and response.
Wich one should be the good way? The 2 (or N) JIGASI? or the ability to change transcriber language by the UI?
Do you know how can I change the transcription language by javascript?
I’m able to get the current language, but i dont know the right way to override this value using JS
APP.conference._getConferenceOptions()
[features/transcribing] Transcriber language set to en-US
or
APP.conference._room.options.config.transcriptionLanguage
You will need changes in jitsi-meet, lib-jitsi-meet and jigasi.
