Incorrect translation for "flip" in French and Canadian French

I’d like to propose improvements for the French localization.

Issue #1

Incorrect translation of “Flip”

How to see the incorrect text:

  1. Create and join a meeting on meet.jit.si
  2. Mouse-over your own view (your camera)
  3. Click the “…” button in the top right corner
  4. In the menu, see the “Flip” option

English:
Flip

French Canadian:
Current text: Actionner
Proposed text: Miroir

French:
Current text: Balancer
Proposed text: Miroir

Rational:
“Actionner” is french for “activate” and “Balancer” means “balance”. Both are incorrect in this context, as this menu option will mirror your camera view.

Issue #2

Translation missing for “Hide self view”.

How to see the incorrect text:

  1. Create and join a meeting on meet.jit.si
  2. Mouse-over your own view (your camera)
  3. Click the “…” button in the top right corner
  4. In the menu, see the “Hide self view” option

In French and Canadian French, the translation is missing and default to the english text “Hide self view”.

Proposed translation: Masquer ma vue

The same text can also be found in the settings, in the last tab, and should be replaced as follow:

  • Self view → Ma vue
  • Hide self view → Masquer ma vue

Thanks for pointing this ‘flip’ translation that is indeed not the best. I’ll take care of it and the missing messages next time I send an update of the French translation.
Note that I am not handling the Canadian French translation. I don’t speak the language :slight_smile:
If you want to take it yourself, you are welcome: contribution is open and handling translation don’t require coding skills. Canadian French translation needs YOU ! Look at its state !
All right, I admit that getting it in shape will take some effort, but once it’s done the maintenance effort is pretty small (usually less than 1 hour every 2 weeks, I tend to not react in real time to avoid generating too much work for the Jitsi team).
