How to restrict number of screens in tile view

I want to restrict number of screens to 5 in tiles view. Is it possible using interface_config.js or config.js? Currently if there are 20 users then it will show all the users in tile view.

AFAIK it’s possible to change the column count but the row count depends on the browser window’s height.

TILE_VIEW_MAX_COLUMNS in /usr/share/jitsi-meet/interface_config.js

Thanks @emrah I guess there isn’t any easy way to restrict the number of screens in a tile view. Even if I set TILE_VIEW_MAX_COLUMNS=2 then as the Users increases then it will start showing all those users.

I think I can set ChannelN=5 and follow this approach.

You need to restrict meetings to have up to 5 participants. There is a module to do that jitsi-meet/mod_muc_max_occupants.lua at master · jitsi/jitsi-meet · GitHub

That’s a very high price

I thought that I can restrict tile view to 5 screens and all other participants move to right side.

Nope there is no such view at the moment.

Stage or grid view show all participants.

How about lastN?
That will turn off cameras above 5, right?

yes it will but still, it will show all the participants with video on and off in tile view.

I’m thinking of using LastN + this hack

so lastN will restrict the videos to 5 and the hack will only show the participants with video on.

Interesting choice, :+1:
