[How to] How to upgrade Jitsi Meet & Monitor the logs

Congratulations! You made it through the self-hosting guide and your server is now up and running. Now what?

Is running a Jitis Meet server new to you? Maybe interacting with Linux is also a new experience?

This post will hopefully help you learn some basic commands to update, upgrade and monitor your Jitsi Meet server.

:bulb:For Debian based systems operating and updating Jitsi Meet, Jicofo, Prosody, Nginx and JVBs is the same as other services on the system:

Update Jitis (and other apps)

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Update Prosody (to the latest)

See: [How to] How do I update Prosody?

See what version of Jitsi you have:

dpkg -l | grep jitsi

Restart Services

To restart everything without rebooting:
service nginx restart && service jitsi-videobridge2 restart && service prosody restart && service jicofo restart

Monitor Video Bridge logs:

tail -F /var/log/jitsi/jvb.log

Monitor Jicofo logs:

tail -F /var/log/jitsi/jicofo.log

Monitor Prosody logs:

tail -F /var/log/prosody/prosody.log

Monitor nginx logs:

tail -F /var/log/nginx/error.log

Hope this helps!
