Find number of participants in a conference

Hi,
Sorry I was not sure where to raise this question hence in the Uncategorized section. I am trying to find the number of participants in a particular conference every second. Using the colibri/debug api I am able to get the following data. Can I assume that the endpoints in this object always represent participants ? So since there are 3 endpoints. there are 3 participants in the conference currently.

      "conferences": {
        "ab795d16634ea7c1": {
          "endpoints": {
            "e9e32526": "Columbus-vqp",
            "03fb286a": "Columbus-vqp",
            "bc086478": "Columbus-vqp"
          },
          "name": "testconference",
          "id": "ab795d16634ea7c1"
        }
      }

Here is the full object obtained from colibri/debug

Thanks for the info @corby. I wanted to see if I can get the data from colibri itself, if that is absolutely not possible I will go down the prosody path.
