Dpkg-buildpackage fails on Ubuntu 20.04

I try to build the debian package jitsi-meet:
dpkg-buildpackage -A -rfakeroot -us -uc -tc

I get this error:

dpkg-buildpackage: info: source package jitsi-meet-web
dpkg-buildpackage: info: source version 1.0.1-1
dpkg-buildpackage: info: source distribution unstable
dpkg-buildpackage: info: source changed by Damian Minkov damencho@jitsi.org
dpkg-source --before-build .
’ is invalid error: source package format '3.0 (quilt)
dpkg-buildpackage: error: dpkg-source --before-build . subprocess returned exit status 255

All other steps before build .deb were successful.
Thanks for the help

what were these steps ? I think about everyone starts by git cloning the github repo, did you do differently though ?

git clone, npm update / install, make all…

tried just that and it all worked and dpkg-buildpackage created all the .deb files.
Try to clean your install and start again.
