Directions for Installing Jitsi on an rpm-based Distro

Hi,

Has anyone in this community sucessfully installed and setup Jitsi on any of the following Distros?:

  • Fedora
  • CentOS
  • Redhat
  • OpenSUSE

I am running Fedora. How did you do it?

Dockerized Jitsi should work

I’ve done it on CentOS in the past, IIRC it was sth like this:

  • used compiled files extracted from the deb packages,
  • took care of all rpm systems specifics - folders for configs and for local installed bins, init system specifics (edit the scripts as needed), etc.,
  • took special attention to proper configuration of SELinux/audit log rules - that is, of course, if you don’t disable selinux completely, but then there is barely ant advantage in using centos/redhat anyway. Selinux and init are the major differences.

It’s a lot of work for troubleshooting, plus you don’t get the advantage of deb packages upgrades, but if you need RPM systems install, it could be done.
