Hi everybody, I looked for an answer
a lot over the internet but I can’t find a complete answer.
What are the differences between Jitsi and 8x8?
Up to now, these are the only things I know:
Jitsi was acquired by 8x8
New features are developed in Jitsi as a test for 8x8, their user interface and features are almost identical
Jitsi Meet is Open Source (along with all of its services), what about 8x8 services?
The main point I can’t understand is:
why should I choose one over the other? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each one of the two?
I hope answers can be useful for everybody.
Thanks a lot, have a nice day!

Differences aside, why are they separate to begin with?
Imagine if zoom, or slack, or gmail, had a separate app for the free service and the paid service. It’s so frustrating that for those who wish to support an open source video conferencing project may spend a good amount of energy promoting Jitsi. Finally, when enough peers are on board and use it enough that they decide to invest in the paid service, it’s an entirely separate application with no cross compatibility!
