Desktop sharing freezes

#1

Hi,

My colleague and I use SC to work over distance. Really nice tool for that. I'm on Ubuntu 10.10 and he has Windows 7 (or probably Vista).

Streaming my desktop to him works like a charm. Unfortunately the other way around, the images freeze after a while (ca.3-5 min)

I have the impression that this depends on the amount of data transfered. So if there is a lot of scolling, changing windows etc. it freezes earlier. It probably gets out of sync grabbing the Windows screen and can't catch up again.

How would one try to analyze this?

Thank you
Conrad

Hi Conrad,

Do you just use the "streaming" feature (i.e not remote control) ?
With SIP or XMPP ?

I will take time to test on Windows this week and see if I can reproduce the
problem.

Hallo Seb,

It doesn't matter. It's freezing. The funny thing is, that the "remote control" continues to work - so I click at wild on the screen of my poor colleague because I see something else on my frozen screen than the desktop really is at that time.

I will take time to test on Windows this week and see if I can reproduce
the problem.

Cool, thank you. Tell me if I can help you.

Greetings
Conrad
