Depends: jitsi-videobridge (= 1109-1) but it is not going to be installed

Hello,
I tried to install jitsi meet by following the instructions in the tutorial mentioned below:
https://jitsi.org/news/new-tutorial-installing-jitsi-meet-on-your-own-linux-server/

But when I execute the command “apt -y install jitsi-meet”

I get the following error:
jitsi-meet : Depends: jitsi-videobridge (= 1109-1) but it is not going to be installed

Hum. You did run apt update, right? What architecture is the device youi’re installing it on?

I did run “apt update”.

I’m trying to install it in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

You are missing java8 on that old distribution, which is a requirement. I would recommend to update to latest LTS.

I installed java8 and then tried to install jitsi meet.Got the same error.

O you don’t have systemd. Try switching to unstable repo, and remember after installing to start videobridge /etc/init.d/jitsi-videobridge restart.

This will be fixed in stable in the following weeks.

Hi
I am following the same steps

  1. use unstable build
  2. install openjdk 8
  3. but during install, I get the same error

sudo apt-get -y install jitsi-meet

What is your OS and version?

I am using ubuntu 14.04

Ubuntu 14 does not have systemd, that’s why, use unstable or wait for the stable to be updated in the following weeks.

Hi,

This doesn’t seem to have been fixed yet. I get the same error:

Not sure what could be wrong… Anyway this is more than 5 years old, so you better upgrade to something more recent. We test the package deployment on latest LTS and stable of Ubuntu and Debian and also on the latest non LTS release.
