Chrome webcam and mic enabled but not showing video and audio

Hi,

I’m a newbie to Jitsi and have just done a set up on Debian 10 on a virtual server. It was very much a learning experience, having to purge and re-install multiple times while consulting various guides and dealing with strange and cryptic errors. It doesn’t help to be a relative stranger to Linux as well. .

I’ve tested the setup using 3 different machines: 2 laptops and 1 desktop, all running Windows 10 and using the latest Chrome beta (version 84) and stable (version 83).

I am encountering the problem in the subject with one of the laptops – despite having webcam and mic enabled and so indicated in Jitsi, there is no video or audio. This occurs regardless whether the particular laptop acts as host or participant.

Since the OS and browsers are standardized down to the installed extensions and hardware is working, I am stymied.

Can anyone suggest what I may have overlooked?

Thanks.

if the results are good, then make sure you remove all permissions in chrome for camera & mic and re-do it. try using incognito mode for easier troubleshooting

Thanks for the test link. The results are good but I’ve found the source of the problem to be driver conflict. After uninstalling and re-installing the camera driver, the issue is gone.
