Bind() to 0.0.0.0:443 failed

Hello,

fresh jitsi install on fresh Ubuntu 18.04.4 install

I’ve installed, purged, installed again and again. Tried installing Nginx first then install jitsi and it always results in the same issue, nginx fails to start after jitsi is installed with the following in the error.log for nginx:

2020/04/02 06:03:58 [emerg] 1099#1099: bind() to 0.0.0.0:443 failed (98: Address already in use)
2020/04/02 06:03:58 [emerg] 1099#1099: bind() to 0.0.0.0:443 failed (98: Address already in use)

2020/04/02 06:03:58 [emerg] 1099#1099: bind() to 0.0.0.0:443 failed (98: Address already in use)
2020/04/02 06:03:58 [emerg] 1099#1099: bind() to 0.0.0.0:443 failed (98: Address already in use)
2020/04/02 06:03:58 [emerg] 1099#1099: still could not bind()

netstat shows nothing on 443.

I searched for this issue and a few people posted the same issue, but the fixes I’ve tried from the answers posted haven’t seemed to work or apply to me.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is the thread you need to watch: Nginx, coturn & port 443

One temporary solution seems to be to uninstall coturn for now.

@warriorcookie stop jitsi-videobridge and nginx , first start nginx then start jitsi-videobridge

stopping jitsi-videobridge did not work

apt-get purge jitsi-meet-turnserver worked.

Now the issue I’m seeing is when I start a meeting when the second user connects it disconnects both users.

I resolved this issue, installing from unstable and remove 60-jitsi-meet.conf
everything works

yup. unstable works or me.

This must be a known issue if the nightly is working. I think they changed turn servers recently and broke something.

i just changed in /etc/nginx/modules-enabled/60-jitsi-meet.conf the “listen 443” to “listen 127.0.0.1:443” which did the trick so far. not sure why this is there and how it is in unstabel. maybe someone could check…

cheers

see @damencho answer to my GitHub issue, should be solved:
